2012 is Now! Learning from Voter Engagement in 2010 and Re-Activating the Rising American Electorate
Thursday, March 31st at 1:30 – 3:00pm ET
As state battles over budget cuts, voter ID laws and healthcare demonstrate, the impact of the midterm election on the national political landscape is profound. With the 2012 elections quickly approaching, it is necessary to answer some lingering questions about last year’s elections: Why didn’t the excitement carry-over? Why did we expect more than a typical midterm turnout in 2010? What did -- or did not -- motivate first-time voters in 2008 to return to the polls in 2010? What factors were in play in states where the drop-off effect was less of a force?
Join the Neighborhood Funders Group (NFG) and Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation (FCCP) on Thursday, March 31st to discuss these and related questions. Come learn how activating the power of women, youth and communities of color TODAY is necessary to set the stage for a highly participatory election in 2012 and beyond.
