NEW REDISTRICTING GUIDE! The Impact Of Redistricting In Your Community: A Guide To Redistricting
When the US Census data is released in 2011, statistics will reflect that we are becoming an increasingly diverse nation. African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders make up at least one-half of the residents in one out of every 10 of the nation's counties. The changing demographics of the United States raise important questions throughout society, especially in electoral politics.
Recognizing that redistricting will determine how local school boards, city councils, state legislative and congressional districts are drawn, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Asian American Justice Center and Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund have published a guide to redistricting that addresses how communities of color can participate in local redistricting efforts.
