FEBRUARY FIRST MONDAY CALL

Monday, February 6, 2012, 3 – 4pm ET / 12 – 1pm PT

What’s Your Frequency? Increasing Civic Engagement Through Social Networking and Community Radio

Online social networking, innovative uses of mobile technology and community radio are democratizing forces that bring people together to engage in the decisions that affect their lives. Communities have used social networking and local radio programming to pressure local governments, register and educate voters, clean up toxic waste, and inspire people to work directly with their elected leaders.

While the latest digital revolution sets the standard for how political information flows online, online organizing isn’t the only opportunity to increase civic engagement through mass communication. As early as this summer nonprofits across the country will have the chance to start community radio stations in their cities and towns, but they need to start preparing now to apply. Join this exciting webinar to learn how both online social networking and community radio allow the public to become more civically engaged, and how you can support the biggest expansion of community radio in U.S. history!
